About

Welcome to PORTION SIZE ME, a lifestyle and campaign that started out as a summer project in the Reid home after then-10-year-old Marshall Reid of Sanford NC inspired his family to “get real” with their food choices.

Now leading the Portion Size Me campaign, Marshall continues to shed pounds and increase his energy by finding new, interesting ways to eat healthy, local foods and keep exercise a mainstay of his daily routine.

How It Began

MARSHALL SAYS

The summer of 2009, I told my mom that we should do the opposite of that film ‘Super Size Me’ and eat healthy for one month. During the month, we created the Portion Size Me goals and learned an awful lot, like how this is not a diet or a program, but a lifestyle change. Its forever!

MOM SAYS

When Marshall told me that he wanted to try something new, try to get healthier, I knew I wanted to support him however I could. Our family needed to slow down focus on each other, on our bodies, and our health. The fast paced do-it-all lifestyle was doing us in and it was time to change. This has been our change.

The Reids hope families across the country will adopt the Portion Size Me lifestyle, which is pretty simple: swap unhealthy ingredients for better ones, shop local markets and farms when you can, stick to the correct portion sizes, and never give up on yourself!

As Marshall puts it, “the Portion Size Me lifestyle will make you feel GOOD about yourself and your body! Who doesn’t want that?”
