Twice the Chance to Win!
We are so passionate about encouraging you (kids and adults) to get into the kitchen and get real with your food that we want to give you some seeds to start an herb garden (or donate to your school) and give you a gift basket of local (North Carolina) food products.
We work hard to find the balance between life, genetics, barriers and more. They are all real….but how you feel and how you feel about yourself is real too, and that is the balance we seek. We want long term life changes and we want to encourage you to look at that path instead of short term quick fixes. This is your life and you cannot change without making a change…..and simple changes are a perfect place to start.
The Library Journal says about our book….
“Tired of being overweight and bullied at school, ten-year-old Marshall Reid embarked on a month long journey to be healthy. Inspired by the movie Super Size Me, Marshall and his mom, Alexandra Reid, decided to make some lifestyle changes, including eating real (i.e. unprocessed) food, reading ingredients on packages, exercising, helping out in the kitchen, and watching portion sizes. These changes not only resulted in improved physical fitness for Marshall but also helped him overcome emotional eating. Not a diet plan, this book is instead part cookbook and part inspirational journal, coupled with food factoids, culinary information, and URLs for videos of Marshall (“Watch Marshall compare juice boxes”). Each page is dedicated to a day of the Reids’ journey, followed by ten days of breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.”
So leave a comment here about how you want to feel: How you want your family to feel: How you want to help your school start a garden: Or how you support local business….. before the end of the day April 30. Get a second chance to win our gift basket by going over to our Facebook page and “liking” us….again before the end of the day April 30.

We have learned to hay bale garden and hope to increase our daily veggies as a result!
Planting a garden does not only get you outdoors and active it helps people understand where our food comes from. In todays food culture, it is very easy to purchase prepared food and not even have to think about where it comes from.
Besides adding nutrients and incredibly fresh flavor to your food, it also gets families back in the kitchen and more in touch with the “roots” of what is most basic and essential to our being- Food.
I absolutely love what you’re doing! I struggle daily with feeding my family. I know we’d all feel better if we ate better!

I’m loving a whole-foods, plant-based diet, and the compliments keep coming. I’m hoping that by example, I inspire others to take better care of their health.
I have been supporting my local food co-op, getting healthy, organic, locally-grown food! It is wonderful.
I would like my clothes to fit properly. I would like more energy and I would like to teach my son that eating food that’s good for you can taste good!
We have a garden at home- but it would be great for our elementary school to start a garden- it would be healthy for the kids and could incorporate science and social studies.
